Bucket Fill Tool

Fill shapes with color by clicking on them.

Bucket fill tool

The Bucket Fill tool applies the current color to shapes you click on. Use it to quickly color shapes or change their fill.

How to use

  1. Select the Bucket Fill tool from the toolbar
  2. Choose a color from the color picker in the context menu
  3. Click on any shape to fill it with the selected color

When you click a shape, the bucket fill:

  • Changes the shape's color to the current color
  • Makes the shape filled (solid) if it was previously unfilled

Filling multiple shapes

Click on each shape you want to fill. To fill many shapes with the same color:

  1. Select your color
  2. Click on each shape in turn

The bucket tool fills one shape per click based on where you click on the canvas.

Changing colors

To select a different color:

  1. Click the color swatch in the context menu at the bottom of the screen
  2. Choose from the color palette
  3. Click on shapes to apply the new color

You can also use the Pipette tool to sample a color from an existing shape, then switch back to the Bucket Fill tool to apply that color elsewhere.

Tips

  • The bucket fill works on any closed shape, including freehand drawings, geometric shapes, and text
  • To change a shape's color without the Bucket Fill tool, select it with the Transform tool and use the color picker in the context menu
  • Unfilled shapes (outlines) become filled when you use the bucket tool on them
