User Profiles
Customize your CADit profile, manage your username, control privacy settings, and view how others see your public profile.
User profiles
Your CADit profile displays your public information and published designs. You can customize how you appear to other users, manage your username, and control what information is visible.
Accessing profile settings
- Click your profile icon in the navigation bar
- Select Settings from the dropdown menu
- Click Profile to open your profile settings
Alternatively, navigate directly to /settings/profile in your browser.
Profile picture
Your profile picture appears on your public profile, design cards, and anywhere your name is displayed.
To upload a profile picture:
- In Profile Settings, locate the Profile Picture section
- Click Upload (or Change if you already have an image)
- Select an image file from your computer
- The image uploads and replaces any existing picture
Recommended specifications:
- Size: 256 x 256 pixels
- Maximum file size: 5 MB
- Formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, or GIF
To remove your profile picture:
- Click Remove next to your current profile picture
- Confirm the removal in the dialog
After removal, your profile displays a default avatar generated from your display name.
Display name
Your display name is the name shown on your profile and alongside your designs. It can differ from your username.
To set or change your display name:
- In Profile Settings, locate the Display Name field
- Enter your preferred name (2-50 characters)
- Click Save Changes
If you leave the display name empty, your username displays instead.
Username
Your username creates your unique profile URL (e.g., cadit.app/user/yourname) and is how other users can find you.
Username requirements:
- 3-20 characters
- Letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores only
- Case-insensitive (YourName and yourname are treated as the same)
To change your username:
- In Profile Settings, locate the Username section
- Enter your new username
- Click Update
Change limitations:
- If you have never changed your username, you can set it immediately
- After that, you can change your username once every 30 days
- The settings page shows how many days remain before you can change again
Previous usernames
When you change your username, CADit reserves your old username for a period. During this time:
- Links to your old username redirect to your current profile
- You can reclaim any of your previous usernames
- Others cannot register usernames you previously used
Your previous usernames appear in the Profile Settings page under the username field.
Bio
Add a short description about yourself that appears on your public profile.
- In Profile Settings, locate the Bio field
- Enter your text (up to 500 characters)
- Click Save Changes
Website
Link to your personal website, portfolio, or other online presence.
- In Profile Settings, locate the Website field
- Enter your full URL (e.g.,
https://yoursite.com) - Click Save Changes
The link appears on your public profile with the domain name displayed.
Privacy settings
Control what information others can see on your profile.
Show email
By default, your email address is hidden from your public profile.
To show your email:
- In Profile Settings, locate the Privacy section
- Toggle Show Email on
- Click Save Changes
When enabled, your email appears on your public profile and others can contact you directly.
Viewing your public profile
To see how your profile appears to other users:
- In Profile Settings, click View Profile
- Your public profile page opens in a new view
Alternatively, navigate to cadit.app/user/yourusername.
Your public profile displays:
- Profile picture (or default avatar)
- Display name
- Username
- Bio (if set)
- Website link (if set)
- Email (if Show Email is enabled)
- Join date
- Number of public designs
- Gallery of your published designs
Account email
Your account email is managed through your authentication provider and cannot be changed directly in CADit. The email field in Profile Settings is read-only and shows which email your account is linked to.
Tips
- Choose a username you can keep long-term, as changes are limited
- A profile picture and bio help other users recognize and learn about you
- If you share designs publicly, a complete profile builds credibility with your audience
