Overview of CADit's 2D drawing tools for creating shapes that become 3D objects.

Drawing tools

CADit's 2D drawing tools let you create shapes on the canvas that become 3D objects. All drawing tools are accessed from the toolbar at the top of the 2D panel.

Pen tools

Draw freeform shapes with three different approaches:

  • Freehand: Click and drag to draw smooth, continuous curves
  • Polygon: Click to place connected line segments, double-click to close
  • Brush: Paint thick strokes with adjustable width

Shape tools

Create precise geometric shapes by clicking and dragging on the canvas:

  • Rectangle and Square
  • Circle and Circle Segment
  • Triangle
  • Star
  • Heart
  • Regular Polygon (pentagon, hexagon, etc.)

Hold Shift while dragging to constrain proportions.

Text tool

Add text to your design with customizable fonts. Text becomes a 3D shape like any other drawing.

Editing tools

Modify existing shapes on the canvas:

  • Transform: Select, move, rotate, and resize shapes. Click to select, drag corners to resize, use the rotation handle to rotate.
  • Eraser: Remove parts of shapes by drawing over them. Adjust size from Small to Large.
  • Bucket Fill: Fill enclosed areas with the current color.
  • Pipette: Sample colors from existing shapes to use elsewhere.

Photo guide

Import a reference image to trace over. The image appears on the canvas as a visual guide but does not become part of your 3D model.

Context menu

When you select shapes with the Transform tool, a context menu appears at the bottom of the screen. This provides quick access to:

  • Color picker for changing shape colors
  • Hole toggle to make shapes cut through others
  • Union and Cut operations for combining shapes
  • Duplicate and Delete actions
  • Alignment options for positioning multiple shapes
